Two Elk Grove veterans honored with “Quilt of Valor”

Earlier today two Elk Grove veterans were honored with a Quilt of Valor from the Elk Grove Quilt Guild.  Joseph Sieber and Sam Rinelli, both 101 years old and residents at Camden Springs care facility, received the patriotic quilts in a brief ceremony this afternoon.  Sieber was recently honored with a “Key to the City” by the City of Elk Grove after his granddaughter contacted Elk Grove Laguna Forums in March, shortly before his 101st birthday.  The information was then relayed to the city who arranged for the Key to the City to be presented to Sieber.

The Elk Grove Quilt Guild is a volunteer group that meets monthly in the Elk Grove area. The group was formed in 1998 and has been handing out quilts over the years to various groups and individuals.  Guests are welcome to join the guild.
