Tree limb falls at Elk Grove Regional Park injuring one person

Saturday afternoon a large tree branch fell, sending one man to the hospital with a back injury.

The branch fell during the 2nd Annual Summerfest event at Elk Grove Regional Park.  According to witnesses that were there and commented on a post on the Elk Grove Laguna Forums Facebook Page, (photos on the page) there was a cracking noise and then a large branch fell.  One man was injured in accident.  According to a person who identified herself as his daughter, he was undergoing emergency back surgery and was in ICU. Witnesses also said the large branch appeared to hollowed out by a colony ants.

During the summer time, it is common for trees to drop large branches in the heat.  KCRA posted a story on July 11 about trees dropping limbs in the heat. The park is managed by the Cosumnes Community Services District.
