Sheriff investigating death at homeless camp in South Sacramento
The Sacramento Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a man that was found in a homeless camp area, near Elk Grove – Florin Road and Gerber Road. The call came in around 6:30 am Friday morning that there was a deceased person at the homeless camp. Arriving medical personnel declared the man deceased.

NEWS RELEASE: HOMICIDE ON ELK GROVE FLORIN ROAD
On July 27, 2018 at 6:28 a.m., the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Communication Center received a 911 call from the area of Elk Grove Florin Road and Gerber Road within south Sacramento County. A caller reported that a subject was deceased in a homeless camp near the aforementioned intersection.
Sheriff’s deputies responded, and upon their arrival located a male victim in a homeless camp. The victim was later pronounced dead by arriving fire personnel. The victim is described as a male adult. The cause of death is still under investigation.
At this time, investigators have not identified a motive for this crime or established any suspect information. Several witnesses were on scene and cooperating.
Sheriff’s Department Homicide investigators will remain on-scene throughout the day. The identity of the victim, in this case, will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after notification has been made to his next of kin.
