(Elk Grove, Calif.) – Congressional candidate Andrew Grant, former CEO of the Northern California World Trade Center and a Marine Corps combat veteran, is holding a community town hall in Elk Grove on Thursday, August 16, 2018. The event gives voters an opportunity to hear directly from Grant on his candidacy and his agenda for Congress.
Grant has invited incumbent Congressman Ami Bera to hold five candidate debates in advance of the November election, but Bera has refused to commit to dates. In 2012, Bera challenged then-Congressman Dan Lungren to multiple debates saying, “Now is not the time for the politics of division, but rather the time for a clear exchange of ideas on how we begin to move forward as a region, state and nation.”
“Congressman Lungren accepted Bera’s debate challenge in his first election, but now that he’s the incumbent, he refuses to commit to debate,” said Grant. “Ami Bera has an obligation to defend his record, but he’s been hiding behind taxpayer-funded public relations events and campaign TV ads.”
Bera has sent out multiple taxpayer-funded campaign-style mailers, held taxpayer-funded town halls, and just launched a six-figure TV advertising campaign.
The Town Hall will be at Laguna Town Hall, 3020 Renwick Avenue, Elk Grove. Doors will open at 5:45 and the town hall will begin at 6:00pm.
