Suspect in shooting of Sacramento Sheriff Deputy Identified

The man that is suspected of shooting Sacramento Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Stasyuk yesterday, has been identified.  Earlier the Sheriff’s Department named Anton Lemon Moore, 38, as the suspect in yesterday’s deadly shooting. Detectives are still investigating and trying to determine a motive for the incident. Sheriff’s Spokesman Shaun Hampton said that “So we know (the suspect) is not a stranger to law enforcement. We know that,”

Stasyuk and fellow Deputy Julie Robertson responded to a call for service at the Pep Boys auto shop near Folsom Boulevard and McGregor Drive, according to Sheriff’s Department spokesman Shaun Hampton, at around 1:44 pm.  Both officers walked in and Moore started to flee, then turned and shot at both officers. Stasyuk was struck in the upper torso and later died of his injuries. Robertson was struck in the arm.  The suspect was later engaged by other officers, who also returned fire, striking the suspect.  One bystander was also hurt, but it has not been released who fired the shot that struck the bystander.  Robertson is expected to make a full recovery. Moore remains hospitalized after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up for Stasyuk, who was only 27 and recently married.
