The Elk Grove police department is investigating a shooting that took place after the Monterey Trail High School football game on Friday night. Officers responded to a report of shots fired. The following is a statement from Elk Grove Police Department PIO Jason Jimenez
EGPD officers and Sacramento County deputies were wrapping up their night after working the football game at Monterey Trails High School around 9:50 p.m. when they heard a couple of shots being fired off campus in the surrounding neighborhood.
Officers and Deputies that were assigned to the football game and EGPD patrol officers checked the area and found shell casings lying on the ground at the intersection of Auberry Drive and Holman Drive. As customary, local hospitals were notified. A short time later, a local hospital notified us a subject had arrived and was being treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim had been transported to the hospital by a friend.
