A retired police officer helped the Elk Grove Police Department catch a porch pirate in the act on Wednesday.
The retired officer observed the suspect, 39 year old Brian Marshall, take a package from a home near Jenny Lynn Way. Marshall then got into a vehicle that had two other passengers and drove off. The retired officer followed the suspect vehicle and called Elk Grove Police.
The suspect vehicle tried to lose the witness and at one point threw out the packages. The suspect vehicle then stopped and Marshall got out of the car, pulled out a knife and approached the retired officer, who confronted Marshall. Marshall then got back into the car and the vehicle fled the scene.
Elk Grove police responded and conducted a felony stop of the vehicle on Kammerer Road near highway 99. All the three people in the car were detained and Marshall was arrested and taken to jail. Marshall was found to be on probation. He was charged with was charged with felony probation violation and two misdemeanor counts, threatening with a weapon and petty theft. He is being held on $10,000 bail.
