Sacramento Sheriff’s investigating South Sacramento Homicide

The Sacramento Sheriff’s Department is investigating a homicide that took this weekend. A body was found earlier this afternoon in the 7000 block of Peevey Court. A family member discovered the body and called authorities. No motive or suspect has been identified.

The department issued the following press release:

NEWS RELEASE: HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION IN SOUTH SACRAMENTO

On April 14, 2019, at 2:02 P.M., the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call from the 7000 block of Peevey Court. The male caller indicated he arrived at a family member’s home and located his family member dead inside.

Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the scene and located the male victim inside the home. During the preliminary investigation, deputies concluded the deceased male had been the victim of a violent assault.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators have responded to the scene and are in the process of conducting their investigation. Sheriff’s Office personnel will remain on the scene throughout the night and likely into the early morning hours. Detectives have not yet identified a motive for this crime and have no suspect information at this time.

The identity of the victim, in this case, will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office after notification has been made to his next of kin.
