62nd Annual Western Festival returns this weekend

The annual tradition returns to Elk Grove this weekend. The 62nd annual Western Festival returns for its traditional first weekend of May appearance.

The 62nd annual Elk Grove Western Festival celebrating this year’s theme Keep’n it Country. Join us for a weekend filled with fun and excitement and help us celebrate the 5th annual Elk Grove Western Festival & BBQ Championship brought to Elk Grove courtesy of the Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS).

WHEN? Friday, May 3rd – Sunday, May 5th
WHERE? At the Elk Grove Regional Park

The Carnaval starts things off Friday night, and the festivities continue with the Western Festival Parade on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM. The parade starts at the corner of Elk Grove Boulevard and Emerald Oak Drive.

On Friday May, 3rd gate 1 will be open to all participating Friday Night students.

The gate opens at 5pm. Pre-sale tickets being sold at the schools for $20.00.

At the gate the tickets will be $30.00. Get your tickets!

Traffic Advisory: Western Festival Parade

Saturday Morning Street Closures and Detours on Elk Grove Blvd and near Elk Grove Park

Elk Grove, CA – The City of Elk Grove will implement temporary traffic controls in east Elk Grove on Saturday, May 4 for the 62^nd annual Elk Grove Western Festival Parade.

Traffic Delays & Detours: A traffic plan has been created and road closures and detours will be in effect for parade staging beginning at 7:00 a.m. Roads used for the parade route will be closed from approximately 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until the parade has reached its end point at Elk Grove Regional Park.

Residential streets will be used for parade staging along Emerald Oak Drive between Elk Grove Boulevard and Valley Oak Lane. Residents of these streets will be impacted from approximately 7:00 am to 10:30 am. Residents leaving or returning to the neighborhood during these hours are encouraged to use Valley Oak Lane via East Stockton Boulevard. Streets being used for parade staging will include:

Santa Ridge Circle
Sapphire Court
Gemstone Court
Elk Ridge Way
Jadestone Court
O’Connell Court
Rubystone Court
Cabra Court
Aquarius Avenue
Lodestone Court
Leo Virgo Court
Kilkenny Court

Road closures for the parade will be in effect from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. as follows:

Eastbound (E/B) and Westbound (W/B) Elk Grove Boulevard will be closed from Emerald Oak Drive to Elk Grove Florin Road.
Northbound and Southbound Elk Grove Florin Road will be closed from Elk Grove Boulevard to Park Meadows Drive.
Valley Oak Drive will be closed at Elk Grove-Florin Rd.

Alternative Routes: Motorists travelling north or southbound are encouraged to use East Stockton Boulevard or Waterman Road during the closure. Bond Road or Grant Line Road are recommended for motorists travelling east or west bound during the event.
