Woman from Netflix show “Jailbirds” arrested by Elk Grove Police, returns to jail

Being known from a TV show about being jail came back to haunt one woman last week when her notoriety led her being arrested in Elk Grove.

Megan “Monster” Hawkins who appeared on the Netflix show “Jailbirds” about women serving in the Sacramento County Jail, was arrested on Friday by Elk Grove Police officers.

Hawkins was at a bank in the 9100 block of Bruceville Road on Friday when a bank employee became suspicious when Hawkins tried to open accounts using an ID that was not in her name. The employee called Elk Grove Police. At the same time a customer recognized Hawkins from the TV show.

Hawkins left the bank before officers arrived. It was determined the vehicle she was driving was reported stolen. She was located a short distance away and taken into custody. She was in possession of the stolen car, several credit cards in other people’s names and possession of a controlled substance.

No word on if she will be returning for season 2.
