A 36 year old woman working at a fireworks stand was run over by a thief who tried to steal a large box of fireworks last night.
The incident happened around 8:30 pm Sunday night in the parking lot at Smart & Final on Elk Grove Blvd. According to a report on Fox 40 News, a man went to the stand and grabbed a box of fireworks worth $1000 and tried to get into an SUV. The woman tried to prevent the man from taking it and was run over by the car, described as an older model, green Chevrolet SUV. There were other people in the SUV.
The Cosumnes Fire Department has a fire station across the street. The woman was taken to Kaiser hospital. According to the Fox 40 News report, she is in ICU.
Update from the Elk Grove police department. There are five suspects. Three African American males and two females of unknown race.
