Diversity Awareness Month
August is Diversity Awareness Month in Elk Grove. Join the City’s Diversity and Inclusion Commission, the Elk Grove City Council, and local organizations in celebrating the many cultures in Elk Grove with activities and events throughout the month. This week will include an Interfaith Prayer event for Peace, Justice, and Unity on Sunday, August 4. Details on this and other events are available on the City of Elk Grove’s Facebook page.
City Seeking Nominees for the 2019 Accessibility Awards
Do you know a business, organization or individual who goes “Above and Beyond” for individuals with disabilities in Elk Grove? If so, take a moment to nominate them for the City of Elk Grove’s Disability Advisory Committee’s Accessibility Award. Nominations will be accepted through this Friday, August 2 from the city’s website at www.elkgrovecity.org/dac. To receive this information in alternative formats or to request more information, please contact the City’s ADA Coordinator, Jim Ramsey, at 916-478-2250 or jramsey@elkgrovecity.org.
Join Your Neighbors for National Night Out
The 36th Annual National Night Out (NNO) will take place next Tuesday, August 6, in communities throughout Elk Grove and the nation. This event gives neighbors an opportunity to join together in a combined effort to:
-Increase crime prevention and awareness
-Generate support and participation in local neighborhood watch programs
-Strengthen the partnership between the community and police
-Inform criminals that neighborhoods are connected and fighting back
If you and your neighbors would like EGPD to visit your National Night Out neighborhood block party, visit www.elkgrovepd.org to complete the request form.
