Local business owner and current Elk Grove Planning Commissioner, Kevin Spease has filed paperwork to run for the 3rd District seat for the Elk Grove City Council. The election will take place in November 2020.
Current 3rd District City Council member Steve Detrick has indicated he would not seek re-election in 2020. Detrick was elected in 2008 and is the second longest serving city council member behind Pat Hume who won re-election in 2018.
Spease is well known in the Elk Grove community as member of Rotary and the Elk Grove Chamber, as well as being an owner of Spease Bees Honey Company and ISSE Services.
When reached for comment about running for city council, Spease said,
“I have opened a committee to explore potential candidacy. My decision will depend largely on community support.”
