Public Hearing for Bond Issuance for CNU Hospital Project this Wednesday
CNU and its affiliated non-profit, the Northern California Health Services and Research Foundation (a 501(c)(3) non-profit public-benefit corporation) have asked the City to hold a TEFRA hearing so they can access tax-exempt bond funds to develop the hospital project, which is part of the larger Medical Center Campus Project. The law requires that such a hearing be held by a government jurisdiction where the project is to be located.
This is a public meeting. At the hearing, the City Council will receive public comment and input, and will consider whether to allow the issuance of tax-exempt bonds to finance the project. The bonds would be issued by the California Public Finance Authority on behalf of CNU and its affiliated non-profit, independent of the City. The City would not be responsible for issuance or repayment of the bond indebtedness.
While the holding of a TEFRA hearing and approval of issuing tax-exempt bonds would help provide a financing mechanism for CNU, these actions do not constitute approval of the hospital project or the larger Medical Center Campus Project. The TEFRA hearing pertains solely to the project’s financing, which is separate from the City’s project review process.
Additional information about the proposed project and the TEFRA hearing is available on the City’s website at www.elkgrovecity.org/cnu.

Honor a Veteran through Elk Grove’s Military Street Banner Program
Since the City of Elk Grove’s founding, our residents have had a proud tradition of military service. And Elk Grove’s tradition of honoring those who have served is just as proud! One of the most visible honors is the Military Street Banner Program. These banners are proudly hung on streetlights along Elk Grove Boulevard and Civic Center Drive (between Big Horn Boulevard and Laguna Springs Drive). Displayed for one year, the banners feature retired or honorably discharged members of the United States Armed Forces residing in Elk Grove or those who resided in Elk Grove and are now deceased. Businesses or individuals may sponsor a military street banner for a $150 fee. Applications are accepted year-round, but to ensure the banner is in place by Veteran’s Day, they must be submitted by September 20. For more information, visit elkgrovecity.org/banners.
