Disasters Don’t Happen on a Schedule, but Disaster Preparation Should!

Funding Granted for Improvements to Elk Grove-Florin Road
The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) recently announced their 2019 funding award allocations. Of the $56.2 Million awarded for regional projects, the City of Elk Grove will receive $3 Million to implement the Elk Grove Florin Road Complete Street and Resurfacing Project. This project will provide pavement resurfacing, close sidewalk gaps, upgrade ADA curb ramps, add class II and class III bike lanes, and improve existing traffic signal equipment. The Project will extend improvements in the works for additional segments of Elk Grove Florin Road further south. All combined, these improvements will offer smoother and safer travel for cars, bikes, and pedestrians along this 4.5 mile stretch of road over the next five years.
Teens, it’s time to Party on the Palms!
The Elk Grove Youth Commission will host a teens-only event like no other next Saturday, September 7 at 6 p.m. on Laguna Palms Way. Students ages 13-18 can leave the parents behind and dance the night away to DJ music, splash around in the foam dance party, hang out in the teen scene social media lounge, geek out in the game truck, snack on food and drinks, and show their skills at foosball, corn hole, ping pong and carnival-style games. Admission is free with valid school ID. For details visit, www.elkgrovecity.org.
