A pedestrian was killed early this morning on southbound Highway 99 near Grantline Road. The accident happened around 6 am. The CHP closed down parts of 99 for several hours to investigate. According to the story on CBS 13, the pedestrian was hit by several vehicles.
Update from South Sacramento CHP
At 6:07 am, Sacramento Communications Center dispatched a call of a vehicle hit unknown object, later identified as a pedestrian lying in the roadway. Units from the South Sacramento CHP Area responded to the scene. The victim had been run over numerous times with only two of the involved parties stopping on scene. Both lanes of SR-99 southbound just north of Grantline were closed for approximately three hours. Caltrans responded with a hard closure. Southbound traffic was diverted off at Grantline, and right back onto southbound SR-99. The suspect hit-and-run vehicle was not identified and there were no witnesses who reported seeing the collision. There is no further information available on the suspect or the suspect vehicle at this time.
