Elk Grove man arrested for attempted murder Friday night

An Elk Grove man was arrested for attempted murder on Friday night after he assaulted and then cut the victim on the arm and neck.

The incident happened in 5100 block of Efthemia Way shortly before 9:30 pm on Friday night. According to police, the suspect knew the victim. The suspect hit the victim in the head several times and tried to choke the victim. 21 year old Shawn Collins of Elk Grove was arrested after fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Collins was charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently being held without bail.
