Learn More About Elk Grove’s Heritage – It’s History Week

Started as a stage stop along the historic Lincoln Highway in 1850, Elk Grove has become a vibrant city home to more than 174,000 people. The last full week in September is recognized as Elk Grove Area History Week. Join local organizations in celebrating Elk Grove’s storied past and pioneers at events at activities throughout the week that promote our proud heritage. Become a Smarter Renter (or Landlord) at a Rental Housing Seminar

The Code Enforcement Division will host a free seminar about the rights and responsibilities of renters and landlords this Tuesday, September 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. in City Council Chambers (8400 Laguna Palms Way). Representatives from Code Enforcement, the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency (Housing Choice Voucher), and Project Sentinel (fair housing) will share updates on landlord tenant laws, inspection procedures, and other details that rental property owners, managers, and tenants should know. Time to Consider the Possibilities for Property North of District56

Join City staff next Tuesday, October 1, for ameeting to discuss plans for the City property north of District56 (the Civic Center/Aquatics Center) at the corner of Elk Grove Boulevard and Big Horn Boulevard. This meeting will take place in Council Chambers (8400 Laguna Palms Way) starting at 6 p.m.

The City is exploring the development of the site and is seeking public input on a variety of aspects including the character and quality of the development and public spaces.  Several options will be presented.  Future development of the site may include a mix of uses, including retail, dining, entertainment, office, and residential uses, as well as a hotel.  Staff will present the objectives for the project and key planning concepts for review and public feedback. Your input will help shape how this site may be developed in the future. For questions about the meeting, contact Christopher Jordan at (916) 478-2222 or cjordan@elkgrovecity.org.

Get Your Morning Perk with the Police Department

Have you ever wanted to ask an officer a question, but didn’t know how or couldn’t find the right time? Come enjoy of a cup of coffee with officers from the Elk Grove Police Department next Wednesday, October 2, at the Starbucks at 4720 Elk Grove Blvd. between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Officers will be available to answer your questions and connect with the community.
