Sacramento man sentenced to 41 for sexual assault of 6-year-old girl

A Sacramento man was sentenced to 41 years in prison for the sexual assault of a 6 year old girl stemming from an arrest back in 2016.

From the Sacramento County DA:

The Honorable Steve White sentenced Thomas Frederick Leonard to 41 years to life in prison.  On August 29, 2019, a jury convicted Leonard of 11 counts of committing lewd acts upon a child and sex act with a child under 10 years of age.

The 6-year-old victim lived in an apartment with her mother, her mother’s boyfriend, and Thomas Frederick Leonard. In September 2016, the victim told her mother that Leonard touched her and made her watch illegal videos. The victim’s mother took her to the UC Davis medical emergency room, where the victim reported many instances of sexual assault. Leonard stated to law enforcement that the victim had been sexually assaulting him for months and that he thought he could discipline her himself and make her stop.  Leonard was later found to have searched for child pornography on his computer.
