A female motorcyclist suffered major injuries when she crashed into the back of a pickup on I-5 near Elk Grove Blvd shortly before 9 pm last night.

On October 12, 2019, at approximately 8:53 pm, units from the South Sacramento Area responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision involving a motorcycle, that occurred on northbound I-5 just south of Elk Grove Blvd. After further investigation, the following was determined: a 2003 Kawasaki Z1000 driven by a 28 year old female out of Sacramento was traveling in the #1 lane of northbound I-5 at a high rate of speed when for an unknown reason, the Kawasaki collided into the left rear of a Ford F-150 that was traveling directly to its front. The driver of the Kawasaki was ejected onto the roadway and sustained major injuries. The driver of the Kawasaki was transported to a local hospital and is in guarded condition. Based on additional evidence, alcohol may have been a factor in this collision. The driver of the Ford was uninjured and was released from the scene after cooperating with investigating officers.
