El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputy killed in the line of duty

An El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputy was killed in the line of duty early this morning. Deputy Brian Ishmael was shot and killed while responding to a call for service this morning on Sand Ridge Road in the town of Somerset. A ride-along was also injured in the shooting, but that person’s condition is unknown.

According to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department, two men are in custody and a large contingent of law enforcement officers are in the area searching for any possible remaining suspects. Residents are asked to avoid the area and shelter in place.

Deputy Brian Ishmael is a 4-year veteran with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s office and previously worked for Placerville Police Department.
