On Saturday night the Vacaville Police Department arrested 32 year old Kendall Davis from Elk Grove in drugs and weapons related charges.
Officers conducted a traffic stop for speeding around 7 pm on Saturday night. Davis was speeding through a residential area at the time of the stop.
From the Vacaville Police Department Facebook page:
On Saturday evening, shortly before 7 PM, an officer was patrolling a residential neighborhood when he saw a Mercedes moving along at an unsafe speed. As the officer conducted the traffic stop, the driver, 32 year-old Kendell Davis (Elk Grove) yielded to the right and began looking back towards the officer.
Once the officer was standing at the vehicle’s window, the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle and Mr. Davis appeared very nervous. He kept looking towards the driver’s floorboard and made odd movements towards the area under the front of his seat.
As the hair on the back of the officer’s neck began to stand, a brief conversation took place and specific instructions were provided. Mr. Davis complied with all of the officer’s instructions and was safely detained.
A search of the driver’s floorboard revealed a loaded semi-automatic handgun, which was concealed under the driver’s seat. As the investigation continued, officers discovered the firearm was reported stolen out of Sacramento. Additionally, Mr. Davis is a convicted felon and was in possession of suspected cocaine.
Mr. Davis was booked into Solano County Jail for a variety of firearm and narcotic-related charges.
This incident is yet another example of the importance of compliance with an officer’s commands, and how they allow tense situations to be peacefully resolved.
