Fatal traffic collision near Galt earlier this morning

A fatal traffic collision near Galt earlier this morning claimed the life of the driver of the vehicle who was not wearing a seatbelt.

The CHP posted the following on their Facebook Page:

On 11/7/2019 at approximately 8:37 am, a 65 year old male from Stockton was driving a 2007 Honda Fit in the #1 lane of southbound State Route 99 just south of Twin Cities Road. For an unknown reason, the driver made an unsafe turn to the right and left the roadway. The driver lost control of the Honda as it was traveling on a dirt shoulder west of the roadway and the Honda began to overturn. The Honda went through a barbed wire fence and over W. Stockton Blvd before coming to a stop on its left side just west of W. Stockton Blvd. The driver of the Honda was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision and was ejected onto W. Stockton Blvd. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by fire personnel. Identification of the deceased will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin is notified. This collision is still under investigation and it unknown at this time if alcohol/ drugs were a factor.

This is a reminder that it only takes two seconds to buckle up. Statistics show that you increase your chances of surviving a serious collision by 50% when wearing a seatbelt. Please always wear a seatbelt, it’s the law!
