Elk Grove City Council decides to keep Civic Center Drive name as is

Bowing to public pressure from the community and residents from the Ridge apartment complex, the Elk Grove City Council decided to keep the name for Civic Center Drive as is.

The story and a poll was shared on the Elk Grove Laguna Forums Facebook page. With 1200 votes cast, 93% voted to keep the name the same.

Residents of the nearby Ridge Apartment complex spoke out against the proposed name change, mentioning the pitfalls of the street name change. They cited having to change their billing address with all the various agencies, paying for and changing their license and ID’s, as well as the time needed to accomplish it.

During council deliberation, the council mentioned the emails they received from the community and residents opposing the idea. They voted 5-0 to keep the name as is.
