Donate to the Season of Giving Food Drive
Join the Elk Grove Youth Commission and help local people in need by donating canned food items to benefit the Elk Grove Food Bank Services. The Commission will host a donation drive at City Hall (8400 Laguna Palms Way) before the City Council meeting this Wednesday, December 11, between 5-7 p.m. The Food Bank is asking for canned meat and fish, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned soup, peanut butter, cranberries, chicken broth, oatmeal and cereal.
Recycle Your Holiday String Lights
Don’t throw them away, recycle instead. Broken or unwanted string lights may be recycled at the following locations through January 31:
Elk Grove City Hall| 8401 Laguna Palms Way
Monday through Friday 8 am. to 5 p.m.
Special Waste Collection Center | 9255 Disposal Lane
Sunday through Wednesday 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Large lighted holiday decorations such as inflatables and lighted sculptures will only be accepted at the Special Waste Collection Center.
Leaving Town for the Holidays? Request a Vacation Check!
Police volunteers will check the exterior of your home (Monday through Friday) while you’re away. They’ll even secure any delivered packages until your return. Submit a request for this FREE service at least three days prior to your departure—call 916-478-8100 or visit elkgrovepd.org.
14th Annual Old-Fashioned Christmas
Fridays 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays noon to 8 p.m. and Sundays noon to 5 p.m.

Visit the historic Elk Grove House and Stage Stop for the holidays. Tours are available on weekends through December 22 and feature nine lavishly trimmed rooms. Bring your child or grandchild for a private visit with Santa will charm the young. Admission is $5 per person, which supports the Elk Grove Historical Society’s operations.
