Elk Grove police investigating shooting at Laguna West apartment complex

Elk Grove police officers are investigating a shooting that took place this morning in the Laguna West area of Elk Grove at the Castellini Apartment complex.

According to Elk Grove Police Department Public Information Officer Jason Jimenez, the call came in around 9:20 am of a shooting in the 3300 block of Renwick Ave. The victim then drove himself to a nearby gas station. Officers and medical personnel responded to the scene. The victim was taken to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Detectives are talking to the victim and investigating both scenes.

ELK GROVE POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING

ELK GROVE, CA – On December 22, 2019, at 9:15 a.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to the 3300 block of Renwick Avenue regarding a shooting. The caller indicated she heard an argument prior to hearing gunshots.

While officers were responding to initial call, a 9-1-1 call was received from the clerk at a nearby gas station who stated a person with gunshot wounds had just arrived at the gas station. Officers, along with Fire personnel arrived at the gas station and determined the victim had been shot once in the arm and once in the leg. Fire personnel transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Based on the information obtained during the investigation and evidence found at the scene, it appears that the victim and the suspect were involved in an argument just outside the apartment building when the suspect, pulled out a firearm and began firing multiple times at the victim, hitting the victim twice. The victim then retrieved a firearm from his person and shot back at the suspect. The victim was able to get into his vehicle and drive to the nearby gas station. The suspect and another person fled the area prior the officers’ arrival at the apartment complex.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male adult, between six feet two inches (6’2”) and six feet four inches (6’4”) tall and thin build.
