Body found along American River believed to be that of missing Sacramento man

On Sunday afternoon a body was found near the American River bike trail and highway 160. It is believed to the body of Alex Holden of Sacramento.

The Sacramento Police Department said the Sacramento County Coroner will release the identity this week, but family members have told media outlets they believe it is the body of Alex Holden. Holden’s father posted on Facebook that his son’s body was found.

Holden had been missing since the early morning on New Year’s Day when he left his girlfriend’s apartment at 2:30 am and told her he was going to walk to a friend’s house in the Natomas area to spend the night. Family, friends and law enforcement searched the area since that day.
