Suspect identified in Elk Grove bank robbery

This is an update to a story posted on Thursday

 

Elk Grove police arrested 40 year old Anthony Wright of Sacramento in connection with a robbery at Chase Bank that occured Thursday afternoon.

According to police Wright walked into the bank and handed a note demanding money from the bank teller. Wright then left the bank and headed east on foot along Laguna Blvd.  Witnesses were able to give officers information on a description of Wright and where he was headed. 

A short time later officers located walking on Laguna Blvd just west of Laguna Springs Drive.  He was then detained by officers. A search of Wright led to the discovery of the money. 

Wright was charged with bank robbery and violating parole.

The Elk Grove police department is investigating a bank robbery that took place earlier this afternoon at the Chase Bank located at 7427 Laguna Blvd. One person has been detained.

Police were also seen investigating the area near the southwest corner of Laguna Blvd and Laguna Springs Drive. Witnesses reported seeing and hearing a law enforcement helicopter.
