Early in the morning on February 11, Elk Grove police officer Jarred Houston was responding to a call for a single-vehicle collision on Waterman Road.
When he arrived on the scene, the front of the car was on fire. Houston quickly ran from his car to check on the driver. As he approached the driver’s side window he asked if anyone was in the car. The driver had moved to the passenger side of the vehicle. Houston raced to the other side, then told the person to lean over as he used his baton to break the passenger side window. Houston then helped the man get out of the vehicle through the window and out of the burning car.
