Former Elk Grove Police Department crime prevention specialist arrested for grand theft

Former Elk Grove Police Department employee Kristopher Packwood was arrested on charges of grand theft and theft from an elderly person. The arrest took place on Tuesday, just hours after his employment with the Elk Grove police department ended after he reportedly resigned.

The three grand theft charges are related to theft when the value is over $950. The fourth charge was related to theft from an elderly adult. Packwood was arrested and released on Tuesday. His next court date is on Thursday.

Packwood was a non sworn employee and worked in crime prevention. As part of his job he worked with the community and neighborhood watch groups. In 2019 Packwood received an award for Professional Staff Employee of the Year.
