California to close parking lots at state parks and beaches

Governor Newsom has ordered the parking lots at all state parks and beaches closed until further notice.

Over the weekend various media reports showed thousands of people flocking to parks and beaches throughout the state causing traffic jams and angering local residents.

Governor Newsom said he “had a little anxiety, as all of you did watching the news of all those folks and crowds at out parks, out on the beautiful California coast…” Newsom also said that we must “practice common sense and socially distance.” Newsom said he did not want to close beaches and parks. He also said that several cities and counties near the coast have instituted similar parking lot closures aimed at reducing the number of people going to beaches and parks
