Two arrested in Elk Grove gas station robbery

Elk Grove police officers arrested two people for robbing a gas station in Elk Grove on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, two people walked into the Valero gas station at 8999 Elk Grove Blvd in Old Town Elk Grove around 5:30m pm. One of the suspected simulated having a gun and demanded money from the cashier. The suspects took money from the cash register and fled on foot.

Officers arrived on scene and set up a perimeter. The two suspects were located hiding in the backyard of a nearby residence. 18 year old Jacob Ortiz-Baetiong and a 17-year-old juvenile were arrested. While being arrested, Ortiz-Baetiong, kicked and spit on officers. Ortiz-Baetiong was taken to the county jail and the juvenile was taken to Juvenile Hall.
