Dear Elk Grove Unified Students, Parents and Families,
Elementary school distance learning got off to a great start yesterday. The attendance rate is over 90 percent for 1st through 6th and school sites are working to get all students connected. Of our 26,184 students enrolled, we are working with six percent who we need to connect and check-in with. Preschool, transitional kindergarten and kindergarten packets were distributed and all elementary teachers are checking in with students twice a week.
Working together with our Safety and Security Department and each school site, the District continues to check-out Chromebooks to those who need them. For those with EGUSD Chromebooks, hotspots are being hand delivered to those students who also need Internet connectivity.
For parents and students experiencing challenges with logging into the Classlink portal or Google Classroom to check-in, please visit our Family and Community Resource page and review the Frequently Asked Questions. Also, remember the 5 Tips for Distance Learning:
As Elk Grove Unified students, families and staff successfully shift and make adjustments to a new learning environment with distance learning, tonight, the Board of Education continues with its governance by holding its April 21st EGUSD School Board Meeting via Zoom. Stay tuned for information about new ways we will be recognizing students and celebrating promotions and graduations.
A big thank you to all students, families and staff for a highly successful transition to distance learning. As we explore new opportunities and innovations in education, 2020 is the year when traditional learning took a dramatic and seismic shift. By continuing to work together as one big unified team, we will be able to ride the waves of change.
Please stay safe, stay healthy and stay home as much as you can. Remember to subscribe to the Elk Grove Unified School District’s YouTube Channel.
Thank you,
EGUSD Leadership
