Elk Grove man identified as homicide victim in South Sacramento shooting

An Elk Grove man has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner as the victim of a shooting that occurred on Wednesday, June 10 at 2 am in South Sacramento.

The Sacramento Sheriff’s Department responded to a shooting in the 5900 block on Stacy Avenue. Deputies found an adult male, now identified as 18 year old Daniel Thomas of Elk Grove, suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders rendered medical attention to Thomas, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sacramento Sheriff’s Department posted the following on their social media page:

A second adult male victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the lower body, was transported to an area hospital by fire personnel. He is expected to survive his injuries.

Homicide detectives responded and believe the shooting was targeted, although a motive is not known at this time. Witness interviews are still being conducted. No suspect information is available.
