Two Elk Grove mayoral candidates drop out, endorse Singh-Allen for mayor

In a press release, Elk Grove mayoral candidate Bobbie Singh-Allen announced she has received the endorsement of two other challengers, Michelle Kile and Dane Newsan. Singh-Allen announced in July that she was challenging the current mayor, Steve Ly. Ly has faced allegations of harassment in the past two months from several women, including three that hold office in Elk Grove.

Just last week Cosumnes Community Services Board member Jaclyn Moreno released a statement regarding harassment that she dealt with during the 2018 campaign when she joined with Ly and other candidates.

On August 12 the Elk Grove City Council will take up the topic of possibly censuring Ly

Elk Grove.- Well respected community activist Michelle Kile, the first woman to announce her candidacy for Elk Grove Mayor has now decided to step aside and endorse Bobbie Singh Allen.

“I believe that she can be a trusted leader that would listen to the community and take our concerns to heart. I think she is going to move us forward in a direction we need to go”, said Kile.

“I am honored that Michelle has endorsed my candidacy for Mayor. I’m glad I have her standing by my side as we bring our community together and restore integrity, honesty, transparency and good governance to the Mayor’s office”, said Elk Grove Mayoral candidate Bobbie Singh Allen.

Long time EGUSD Governing Board of Trustees member Bobbie Singh Allen is now the only woman in the race for Elk Grove Mayor.

“Our city needs new capable and unselfish leadership. That’s why I’m running for Mayor” says Singh Allen.

Bobbie’s priorities for Elk Grove are to bring back integrity to the office of Mayor. To allow her experience and skills in good governance to unite the city’s residents and leaders so together we can move forward to improve the lives of all.

“As your Elk Grove School Board Member, I’ve fought for children to succeed in schools and partnered closely with teachers, staff and parents in the decision-making process. Today scores are up and we are closing the achievement gap. Working cooperatively with my colleagues and stakeholders I have guided us through tough financial decisions while putting our students first” added Singh Allen. Elk Grove needs a Mayor that is a proven leader, with a track record of bringing communities together and treating people with respect. Bobbie Singh Allen brings those skills and knowledge of good governance to the table.

With other candidates withdrawing their names from the race including small business owner Dane Newsan, who has endorsed Singh Allen, Elk Grove will have a clear race between someone who divides our community and someone like Bobbie who is a uniter and focuses on good governance, inclusiveness and respect to move our city forward.

“I’m supporting Bobbie because I’ve seen her engaging with the Filipino and API community as a whole and she is a passionate advocate for small businesses and the arts” said Newsan
