Steinmart closing all stores; Elk Grove and two other local stores affected

Retailer Steinmart is closing all of its stores nationwide. The company has 281 stores in 31 states, that employ over 9000 people. The announcement was made on Wednesday.

There are three stores in the Sacramento area including one in Elk Grove located at 7707 Laguna Blvd. The other area stores are in Folsom at the Broadstone Plaza and in Rocklin at the Rocklin Commons.

Liquidation sales could start as soon as Friday or Saturday, August 13 or 14th. Stores are expected to close sometime in the 4th quarter.

Steinmart joins several other national chains that have announced their closure in the past few month. The Elk Grove was previously an Albertsons grocery and then Save Mart before being split into two stores, Steinmart and Kirklands.
