Elk Grove police arrest man believed linked to reports of explosions

Over the past several weeks Elk Grove residents have posted on social media regarding explosions heard in the city several times a week. Last week there was reports of someone throwing some type of explosive device at a person in a car and a couple of days later a loud explosion was heard and felt along Franklin Blvd, north of Elk Grove Blvd.

Earlier this afternoon Elk Grove Police announced that an arrest has been made related to an undisclosed incident

“On December 16, 2020, detectives from the Elk Grove Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit served a search warrant related to an ongoing investigation at the home of Elk Grove resident, Chad Misiewicz. The ongoing investigation is related to the loud explosions reported by several residents in Elk Grove area over the past several weeks.  

Misiewicz is currently on probation and prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition. During the search, detectives found an unregistered firearm, ammunition, and over 40 pounds of illegal fireworks. The illegal fireworks were collected by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordnance Detail (EOD). Misiewicz was subsequently arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for various charges.

The Elk Grove Police Department is continuing their efforts into the investigation of the reported explosions and encourages anyone with information to contact the Elk Grove Police Department at (916) 478-8114.”

Misiewicz was arrested on the following charges:

POSSESSION OF ILLEGAL FIREWORKS
