Motorcyclist killed in a collision in Elk Grove

Earlier this afternoon a 68 year motorcyclist was killed in a collision on Calvine Road. The Elk Grove Police Department issued the following press release.

On January 22, 2021 at 2:14 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist near the intersection of Calvine Road and Sheldon North Drive.

Upon arrival, officers learned a Toyota Camry and a motorcyclist were eastbound, in separate lanes, on Calvine Road approaching Sheldon North Drive. The driver of the Camry made a right-hand turn in front of the motorcyclist, causing the two vehicles to collide. The motorcyclist was ejected from his motorcycle and sustained injuries. The 68-year-old motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital where, despite life-saving efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Camry, a 55-year-old male, was contacted on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Identification of the motorcyclist will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
