Elk Grove Police arrest two teens in connection with weekend explosion

Over the weekend Elk Grove Police officers arrested two 17 year olds after a neighbor heard the explosion and called police with the vehicle information.

From the EGPD Facebook page:

“This weekend officers responded to the area of Lockford Way and E. Park Drive for a report of a large explosion heard. Fortunately, a community member was able to obtain information on the involved vehicle.When officers arrived, they located the vehicle and contacted the two occupants.

In plain view officers observed “M-80” style explosives and items commonly used to manufacture explosive devices. The occupants were detained and a probable cause search of the two subjects, and the vehicle, led to the discovery of additional “M-80” style explosive devices.The Sacramento County Sheriffs Office Explosive Ordinance Detail (EOD) arrived to assist EGPD with the items located. Both suspects, age 17, were taken into custody for various charges and booked into the Sacramento County Juvenile Hall.

Although this arrest is no doubt a step in the right direction with stopping the loud booms heard in town, we will continue our efforts into investigating any reports of explosions. We encourage anyone with information regarding the loud booms to contact us at (916) 714-5115.’
