Charges: PC 29800 (A)(1), 417.3, 30305 (A)
Location: Laguna Blvd. / Laguna Springs Dr.
Suspect: ISLAS, JOSEPH (HMA, 31, ARRESTED)
Officers responded to a report of a road rage incident where a firearm was brandished. S-1 (Elk Grove
resident) was contacted as the driver of an involved vehicle and stopped for a vehicle code violation. A
record check of S-1 revealed he was prohibited from possessing firearms. A consent search of S-1’s
residence led to the discovery of several firearms. S-1 was arrested and then transported to the main
jail.

Location: Barcella Dr. / Bruceville Rd.
Suspect: DARLIN, ALAN (WMA, 35, ARRESTED)
S-1 (Sacramento resident) was the driver of a vehicle contacted during a call for service. Upon contact,
S-1 displayed objective signs of impairment and was arrested.

Suspect: RAYA, JIMMY (HMA, 32, ARRESTED)
S-1 (Elk Grove resident) was the driver of a vehicle involved in a vehicle collision. Upon contact, S-1
displayed objective signs of impairment. S-1 performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested.
There were minors in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Suspect: HOPKINS, TYLER (WMA, 22, ARRESTED)
S-1 (Sacramento resident) was contacted as the driver of a vehicle stopped for a vehicle code violation.
Initially, S-1 provided a false name. A record check of S-1’s true identity revealed S-1 was on probation
and had a warrant out for his arrest. A probation search of S-1 led to the discovery of cocaine. S-1 was
arrested and then transported to the main jail.

1 displayed objective signs of impairment. S-1 performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested.

Crime Tips Via Text Messaging through “TipSoft”

Members of the community having information regarding criminal activity can send tips via SMS text message by entering CRIMES (274637) on their cell phones, followed by Tip732 (agency identification number) and the message. Once users type in their message and press send, they will receive a confirmation text indicating that the message was received.

“Tipsoft” should not be considered a replacement for contacting the Elk Grove Police Department via telephone (916) 714-5115 (non-emergency), (916) 714-5111 / 911 (emergency) or (916) 691-0411 (anonymous tip line). Instead, “Tipsoft” should be seen as an alternative method of contacting law enforcement to provide information regarding non-urgent illegal activity, such as unsolved cases, vandalism, graffiti, theft and narcotics related issues.
