Violent crime up in Sacramento for 2021

Some alarming numbers concerning crime in the City of Sacramento were released by outgoing Police Chief Daniel Hahn on Twitter earlier today.

  • Shooting reports up 29%
  • Number of victims shot up 25%
  • Firearms seized up 35%
  • Arrests for possession of firearms up 47%
  • 53 traffic fatalities, most since 1990
  • 57 homicides, up from 43 in 2020, which was up from 34 in 2019
  • Median emergency response time is 10.48 minutes
