Elk Grove Unified School District issues alert on social media threat

Dear Parent/Guardian and EGUSD Staff,

We have learned of a recent threat against Cosumnes Oaks High School that was posted to social media. The post also mentions Franklin and Elk Grove High Schools. We are working closely with law enforcement to identify the source and credibility. We will have law enforcement presence at each of the schools mentioned first thing tomorrow morning. We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates in coordination with law enforcement.

As a reminder, tomorrow, January 3, 2022 is a teacher preparation day for all traditional calendar schools. Students on traditional calendars are expected to return to school on Tuesday, January, 4, 2022. Students on year round schedules should return as their calendar dictates.

Please take time to remind your student that threats made against a school are taken very seriously and are not considered pranks. Individuals found responsible for such threats may face serious criminal charges. Parents may also refer to EGUSD online resources related to Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship

In the event of a situation of suspicious behavior, potential harm to any person, at every Elk Grove Unified School District school site, students and staff are encouraged to do the following: “If you SEE SOMETHING or KNOW SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.”

We are sharing this information with you as part of our ongoing efforts to keep you informed about incidents that affect our campus. If you have any questions about this situation, please feel free to contact the school principal.

Thank you and stay safe and stay healthy,

EGUSD Communications
