Elk Grove Police motorcycle officer injured in Highway 99 wrong-way collision

An Elk Grove Police Department motorcycle officer was injured early this morning when a driver going the wrong way on Southbound 99 near 12 the Avenue collided with the officer.

Southbound 99 has been shut down since around 5 am this morning. The CHP reported the officer suffered major injuries. The CHP expects 99 to be closed for several more hours as they investigate the collision.
