Starbucks and Carhartt facing boycotts over worker vaccine policies

The recent Supreme Court decision that prohibited a federal mandate to force businesses to require employees to be vaccinated has led several businesses to change their vaccine policies.

The SCOTUS ruling allows businesses to choose to require employees to be vaccinated or not.

Starbucks recently announced they will no longer require employees be vaccinated. That has led to a boycott from some customers who are upset that the company has made this decision

Another business, Carhartt, is facing criticism for choosing to require employees be vaccinated.

“We put workplace safety at the very top of our priority list and the Supreme Court’s recent  ruling doesn’t impact that core value,” wrote Carhartt’s chief executive Mark Valade, a descendant of the company’s founder.

“While we appreciate that there may be differing views, workplace safety is an area where we and the union that represents our associates cannot compromise.  An unvaccinated workforce is both a people and business risk that our company is unwilling to take. ”
