Sacramento Police investigating north area homicide

The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a shooting homicide that took place around 4 am Sunday morning

The Sacramento Police Department posted the following press release on its Facebook page

Homicide Investigation – 2700 Block of Branch Street

On June 19, 2022 shortly after 4 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 2700 block of Branch Street regarding a report of a shooting. When officers arrived on scene they located one victim, an adult male, who sustained at least one gunshot wound. Responding medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They will be processing the scene and canvassing the area for evidence and witnesses. This investigation is in its early stages and the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation. There is no suspect information to provide at this time.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
