Elk Grove Planning Commission approves gas station/Starbucks project near existing Dutch Bros location

Last night the Elk Grove Planning Commission approved a project that would add a gas station, Starbucks, and another unnamed fast food restaurant near the already congested Elk Grove Blvd and East Stockton Blvd intersection. The area already includes a Dutch Bros, Quick Quack car wash, and a Jack in the Box fast food restaurant.

The planning commissioners heard the staff report and presentation from the applicant. Commissioners were concerned about the potential increase in traffic in the area. The proposed project will use the current entrance and exit used by the existing businesses. Planning Commissioner Fernandez asked if it was possible to add a new exit south of the current one, but was told by city staff and the applicant that Cal Trans will not allow it close to the freeway on-ramp. Cal Trans previously owned the property.

The final vote on the project was 3-2 with Planning Commissioners George Murphey, Sergio Robles, and Juan Fernandez voting yes and Sandra Poole and Suman Singha voting no.
