Carpool lane cheaters beware, the CHP is cracking down

If you’re alone in your car during commute hours and like to use the HOV lanes, the CHP is cracking down on HOV lane violators starting later this month. HOV lane restrictions are in effect from 6-10 am and 3-7 pm on weekdays.

Starting September 19 and continuing until October 15, the CHP will be enforcing the carpool lane restrictions in the Sacramento area on Highway 99 from Elk Grove to downtown Sacramento

First-time violators will be fined $490.
