Elk Grove Planning Commission to review affordable housing project

This Thursday the Elk Grove Planning Commission will review a project for an apartment complex near the northwest corner of the intersection of Bruceville Road and Laguna Blvd. The project would be just north of Chicago Fire Pizza and Outback Steakhouse, and west of Quick Quack Car Wash.

The complex would have 294 units spread across 13 three-story buildings. There would be 143 one-bedroom units, 76 two-bedroom units, and 75 three-bedroom units in the project.

The site being proposed was previously a commercial site according to the staff report: The Project site was previously approved for commercial development as part of the Laguna Creek Shopping Center project (EG-04-653), which was approved by the City Council in 2007. The overall commercial site, including the Project site, was previously graded and a portion of the shopping center was constructed. However, construction on the Project site was not completed and the remaining site has not been developed further.

City planning staff is recommending the proposal be approved by the planning commission. The full staff report can be read on the city’s website.
