Two dead in separate stabbing incidents in Sacramento Saturday

Two people were killed in separate stabbing incidents on Saturday in Sacramento. One person was stabbed in the city of Sacramento and the other in the unincorporated area of the county of Sacramento.
There has been no suspect information released yet in either homicide

The first incident occurred in the 400 block of Broadway around 5:20 pm Saturday afternoon

Homicide Investigation – 400 Block of Broadway

On October 8, 2022 shortly after 5:20 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 400 block of Broadway for a report of an assault. When officers arrived on scene, they located a male adult who sustained serious injuries from at least one stab wound. That individual was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department. A second male adult was transported to a hospital with serious injuries and has been contacted by police.

Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They will be processing the scene, canvassing the area, and interviewing witnesses. The exact motive remains under investigation, but it is believed that some type of disturbance preceded the assault. The roles of the involved individuals remains under investigation but detectives do not believe there are any suspects outstanding.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.

The second incident happened Saturday night around 9:49 pm in 6300 block of Whitecliff Way


On Saturday, October 8, 2022, at approximately 9:49 p.m., the Sheriff’s Communications Center received a call in the 6300 block of Whitecliff Way regarding a disturbance. The caller advised that they heard a possible gunshot that came from or near the residence and requested officers respond and conduct a welfare check to ensure the residents were safe.

Deputies responded to conduct a welfare check. During a protective sweep of the residence, deputies located an adult male suffering from at least one stab wound. Deputies performed life-saving measures while awaiting Sacramento Metro Fire. Fire personnel arrived a short time later and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene investigators responded to the scene, interviewed witnesses, and gathered evidence. The circumstances, including the motive, of this incident remain under investigation. No further information or suspect information is available at this time.

The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after identification and notification of next of kin.
