Here is what is happening in the city of Elk Grove

While inflation is making everything a little scarier these days, some places are better than others for celebrating Halloween when you consider factors like family friendliness, safety, weather, and festiveness. Tell Us About Your Transportation Troubles
The Public Works Department has launched a series of surveys to learn more about your transportation troubles. Provide your input on walking, biking, and traffic conditions in Elk Grove. Your feedback will be considered in the development of the next capital improvement plan (CIP) that guides the construction of public development projects like trails and roadway improvements. All 3 surveys will be active through November 4Take the surveys.

Lottery Starts for New Affordable Housing Units
Those looking for affordable housing in Elk Grove have an opportunity to make a new community their home in early 2023. The Gardens at Quail Run II will offer 107 new affordable housing units. The project is located on Quail Run Lane near Bruceville Road. One, two, and three-bedroom units are available for qualifying households. Rents will range from approximately $800 to $2,000 a month depending on the unit size and income level. To ensure all applicants have a fair chance for these units, the City has partnered with the developer to host a housing lottery. Submit your interest form online through November 10 to be entered into the lottery for these units. Some restrictions apply. Entries are limited to one per household. Learn more.

Daylight Savings Time Ends Sunday
The good news is you gain an hour this weekend. The bad news…standard time is coming back and it will get darker earlier. Set your clocks back an hour beginning this Sunday, November 6.
California voters overwhelmingly passed Proposition 7 in 2018 that would have made daylight savings time permanent in California, but a bill to enact the change was never passed by the Legislature. In March 2022, the U.S. Senate unanimously approved legislation called the Sunshine Protection Act that would maintain daylight savings time permanently beginning in November 2023. The bill is still working its way through the House of Representatives.
Did you know? The U.S. Department of Transportation oversees the nation’s time zones and the uniform observance of daylight saving time, according to transportation.gov. The oversight of time zones was assigned to the DOT to help keep track of transportation.
